I have a bachelor’s degree in German and a master’s degree in teaching with an emphasis on foreign language education, both from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, I have completed coursework in medical transcription from CareerStep, an AHDI-accredited program, and have a certificate in German to English translation from New York University.
Working with language has always been a part of my professional life. Since obtaining my degrees, I have worked alternately as a medical transcriptionist and as a teacher of German and English. This unique combination of educational and professional experiences has helped me to develop the skill set necessary to successfully and accurately complete a variety of translation projects.
In fact, it is the variety that I love most about freelance work! Each project is an opportunity to potentially learn something new while providing an important service to my clients.
To each project I bring strong writing and editing skills, with particular attention to vocabulary, specialized terminology, and register appropriate to each type of text. I pay strict attention to detail, carefully researching terms to ensure accuracy and consistency. I am accustomed to strict deadlines and am confident that I can guarantee on-time delivery of high-quality finished projects.
